Good morning, and I trust all is well in your world.
I am very fortunate to count among my friends, the composer Rupert Lang. I have the pleasure of hearing his music often, and this past Sunday was no exception. He has written a most amazing piece of music to words of an Ute Nation prayer. (You can purchase a cd of his music, and cds of choirs he directs by checking out www.cathedral.vancouver.bc.ca).
I thought the words of the Ute prayer would be good for us all to reflect on as leaders:
Earth Teach Me
Earth teach me stillness
as the grasses are stilled with light.
Earth teach me caring
as the mother who secures her young.
Earth teach me courage
as the tree which stands alone.
Earth teach me freedom
as the eagle which soars in the sky.
Earth teach me regeneration
as the seed which rises in the spring.
Earth teach me to forget myself
as the melted snow forgets its life.
Earth teach me to remember kindness
as the dry fields weep with rain.
Earth teach me.
May this week be one of learning for us all.
